2025 NHL Trade Deadline

Bottom six players are easy to find and are cheap. We dont need to give Evans his bag. Let some other team do that.

A lot harder to maintain a higher level of play in January/February when your team is bereft of talent.

Which is entirely normal.

Still no #1 center, d-man or goalie on the current roster. It's far from being done.
14 is a no. 1 center, regardless of how many times you say he’s not. He’s not McDavid or McKinnon, obviously, but he’s a no. 1 center in the NHL. What they need is an actual no. 2 center to take some of the heat off Suzuki.

If you want to call a cat a dog and say that China's northern frontier is on the western front of Chile, then sure. By all means. In that fictional world, Suzuki is definitely a #1 center.

However, since I don't subscribe to your lack of critical thought, I'll keep calling him what he actually is, a #2 center, regardless of how many times you say he is.

Facts don't support your opinion. The fact is there are only 32 top line center positions and Suzuki is not 33rd on the list. You continuously conflate number one center with elite center.

By that definition, Samuel Montembault is a #1 goalie in the league considering that there are, after all, only 32 starting positions in the league and Montembault isn't 33rd on that list.

You really want to play that game?

What you need is a #1 centre for a championship calibre team. Suzuki may well be in the top 32, but he’s not in the top half of that group.

It's not a game. What you want is a better #1 center. That doesn't change the fact that Suzuki is a number 1 center.

And yes, what I want is a better number one goalie. Once again it's you that's playing around with terms. Doesn't change the fact that they are what they are.

Incorrect. What you, and many here including myself, always do is set arbitrary boundaries and call those universal facts when all of this is opinion based.

Suzuki is one of the 32 best centers in the league. That doesn't make him elite, that doesn't make him a franchise center, that doesn't make him a #1 center. None of these statements are factual, they're opinion based.

There aren't 32 #1 centers in the league, there aren't 32 #1 d-men in the league, there aren't 32 #1 goalies in the league. There aren't 32 people who are of the caliber to be head coaches or general managers in the league either.

I'd argue there's about 15-16 #1 centers in the league, honestly.

If Suzuki's your #1 and/or best center, you'll be the best team in the battle for the wild card position year over year.

But if the goal's to make consistent playoff pushes? Good luck with that.
