I see what you did there

Yeah but this is 2016 where driving someone'a head into the boards is not as big a deal as calling someone a gay.
What a game SJS and LA, this should be conference final. 3-2 SJS, Kings were better team though, difference was PP, 3 PP goals for Sharks, king made it 3-2 in 3rd and exciting to watch till last second.
Exactly. Which is why I don't buy Bergevin's narrative about how a healthy Price would have made all the difference. Sure, we'd have made the playoffs (which I guess is all management and ownership care about anymore) but we'd have been annihilated by more physical teams, which would be pretty much all of them based on what I've seen. I read that in game 2 of their series against the Penguins, the Rangers had nearly 60 hits (their regular season average was about 25 hits) Does anybody here think that the Habs could ramp up their own physicality like that? I sure as hell don't.I was watching the game and wondering how the Canadiens, even when healthy, can compete against teams like that. We're too small, soft and weak, even with a healthy Price.
Emelin and subban probably could, but outside of those two...no.Exactly. Which is why I don't buy Bergevin's narrative about how a healthy Price would have made all the difference. But...but....but the Hawks, TBay....all important Corsi.I was watching the game and wondering how the Canadiens, even when healthy, can compete against teams like that. We're too small, soft and weak, even with a healthy Price.
MB said himself @ the PC, the real Habs are somewhere between the 2014-2015 and this past years version - but a playoff team nonetheless.Exactly. weird
the pieces i watched showed the sharks as the much better team
but i only watched maybe 20 mins of playing time total

These games are precisely why Plekanec needs to be jettisoned, he can never be counted on to deliver when physical engagement is mandatory.
The Habs, even while being small and weak, still beat the big bad Bruins multiple times in the playoffs in the past 10-15 years. So this theory about guys like Pleks and DD being pussies in the playoffs, while it might be true, still hasn't prevented us from beating a team with Chara-Lucic-Thornton.
So a team like the Hawks, while not as physical as Kings/Ducks, still manage to go get pucks in traffic. They take the hit, in order to get out with the puck. The importance of physical play is highly overblown in the playoffs.....Tampa made the Finals, and I don't see their top 6 as physical....Hawks won 3 times in past 6 years, and I wouldn't pick them over Kings/Ducks in a street fight.
At the end of the day, pure talent trumps everything else, and Habs lack in that department (top 6).
Exactly, its a skill issue. We need more skill, and have never had enough of it.
What team have we had with the offensive horses? none since the early 90s. We just don't have the firepower.
Has nothing to do with size and toughness, everything to do with skill.
Patrick kane isnt exactly tough. Hes immensely skilled though. These teams have players that combine all three. We don't.

Patrick sharp wasnt known for toughness.
Neither is stamkos kucherov johnston etc...
Kane and Stamkos are no. 1 overall picks. Obviously I would take pure talent like that at no. 1. The others were the product of good scouting and/or player development, which we seem to be short on for the last several years.
