Around The League - 2016 Playoffs

I have watched some Sharks games this year and they are a team tough to play against, their only weakness can be in goal but man they have one hell of team and leadership is no more an issue with Little Joe, Vlasic and couple other guys in room.

It's pretty incredible how San Jose's doing so well with Patrick "The Tin Man" Marleau in a secondary role.

I watched some of western conference games since i moved to west coast and honestly Sharks are team that impressed me most. They can play good defensive game when they want protect score, they have punch in attack and can score goals and Jones wasn't bad for them to be honest for a young goalie and if he struggles there is always Reimer.

Marleau has been fine as you said in secondary role, age wise he is getting old also and he is sitting on right chair now, even though his stats shows that he can still be number one center in some NHL teams.

Sharks probably cannot blow it again but two years ago people were saying the same thing, oh this Sharks team is different, they are up and won't give it away and then boom, they lost four in a row.

San Jose is the best team I've seen so far in the playoffs.

Have Stonewall Jackson and James Longstreet been playing well for them?

I think I have watched maybe 10 minutes in total since Wednesday. I watched the Islander OT last night just to laugh at Luongo #schadenfreude

In a year where Doughty's going to get his first Norris because the hockey writers are openly saying "he's due", Brent Burns was very quietly one of the best d-men in the league all year. Like every great d-men, he's got defensive warts, but he's so damn good offensively.

Lidstrom had no "defensive warts" - brilliant positioning & puck decision maker

Burns has been outplaying Doughty in that series so far.

Another deserving player that will be left of Team Canada.

Then there are only a handful of defensemen that should ever be considered "great", then. Lidstrom wasn't simply "great", he was all time great, he was epic. He was better than great.

Brent Burns, like virtually every other great d-men, especially the ones in this league right now, is superb offensively while having wholes defensively.

Burns has been amazing, 27 goals, WOW! When was last time a defenseman scored that much or close? Souray? Can't remember any D having 75 points in last 10 years or so. The guy playing his best hockey in career right now.

Karlsson was a PPG this year.

There's only been nine d-men in the last 25 years to be a PPG or better while playing 80 or more games in one year.
