Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

The only series that's surprising me so far. Panthers' body language is terrible. They look defeated already.

I would love them to get knocked off.

If we're talking story...Leafs knocking off the two time defending champs TB, then moving on to oust the Caps (the team that first eliminated them), and then kill off the boogeyman Bruins in the conference finals...now that would be a story. I don't know if those matchups would happen if the Caps and Bruins won, but what a revenge porn fantasy if that unfolded.

I like it better than meeting the Canes and embarrassing Freddy (or having the core 4 embarrassed by him), and I'd love to avoid NYR this year if we can. The finals matchup seems destined to be the Avs no matter what happens in the east, and the story then is Leafs vs. Kadri, which scares me, but I'll happily take it.
 
OV with an amazing move on Chiarot to get in alone, Chiarot buries his stick under OV's arms so he can't get a proper shot away, and NO penalty. What a fucking joke, jesus.
 
Fuck leafs better win. If Caps take this series Leafs are going to the ECF. No fear there. And then it gets tough I guess, but still. They deserve a little breakie in the second round anyway considering the tissue soft path that everyone in the west has.
 
Lets pump the breaks here and beat Tampa. There is no such thing as an automatic advance in the playoffs; especially with the Leafs

Yeah, that's our path. We get the winner of Panthers/Caps next and then face whoever comes out of the NYR/Pens , Bruins/Canes bracket.

Caps beating the Panthers would be a lovely, lovely surprise for us. Not that the Caps are a pushover, but we go from one of the few teams in the playoffs who might be better than us

This is our potential path with 5v5 xG & (All situations) league ranks

1st Round:
Tampa 9th (10th)

2nd Round
Panthers 2nd (3rd)
Caps 15th (13th)

ECF
Boston 1st (5th)
NYR 24th (15th)
Canes 4th (4th)
Pens 8th (6th)

So yeah, ideally Washington beats the Panthers and the Rangers come out of the other side of the bracket. If we can manage to get there.

Nah I haven't been hurt enough times to understand this fact yet.

Leafs in 5 vs Caps. It's a lock. They don't even have to play really and I fully expect Washington to forfeit the series before it begins.
 
When the leafs were up 4-1 vs Boston years ago I already had them in the cup finals in my mind. I convinced everyone that I was watching with that it was a done deal that they'll be playing into June.

For those brief few minutes in my life I was happy to be a leafs fan. Let me have this one.

Oh fuck that would be awesome.

But to hell with the nerdy stats, you do not want NYR to be the ECF opponent.

We should hope Boston claws its way there only to be utterly demolished by us, which I do believe we'll do with two series wins under our belts and rolling.
 
Other than Tampa and Florida to some degree, Carolina is the only team in the east that scares me. And they may be the leafs worst and toughest matchup. The advantage we see with the leafs pace vs the Tampa's and Boston's of the world is not at all there vs the Canes. If I recall they crushed the leafs on the nerdies this year but Fred blew the games anyway.

So I just want to avoid them. Anyone else is fine. The potential path of Tampa-Florida-Carolina has been a nightmare of mine for awhile so go caps.
