Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

that's sorta the thing with losing in this city that is pretty incomparable to anywhere else.

criticism tends to take on a life of it's own and our own fans are too depressed to point out "hey um, that actually isn't true that this core got paul maurice fired, you're just spouting nonsense" so a lot of it just goes unchecked.

"Overloading on offense while ignoring defense/goalies, however, will ultimately be his downfall."

Goalies, okay sure. But Dubas has done nothing but acquire top 4 d between Brodie and Muzzin. Both of which have provided amazing results as borderline elite 2nd pair and good 1st pair options. Not many GMs have done that sorta thing, going 2 and 0 on adding D with term @ real money. Is it his fault that he hasn't been able to pull a unicorn Hedman out of thin air? What a dumb narrative. Yeesh

He also said a bunch of other stuff. Not sharing anymore. Taking my bottle, uh ball, and going home.

there are a shitload of very very valid criticisms to be made i think but... it just isn't true that dubas inherited this perfect 115 point team from the great lou lamoriello and drove it into the ground like you'd be made to believe.

there's almost nothing left from lou in the whole damn organization from top to bottom.

Not to mention acquiring a very good D to an already deep d corps last deadline. At a very reasonable cost.

"ignoring defense" is a petrifyingly stupid narrative.

The Habs fan argument is getting blasted in two languages. I always found that disingenuous as most players don't give a shit about the French media. Sorry Habs fans. Truth.

As I mentioned there... what has lou done on the island?

i'm kinda curious based on the criticisms of our style, what kind of team they think is being built over there in montreal based around suzuki and caufield. should be interesting to see that develop.

Similar style, players either buy into the system or they don't.

They didn't with Ducharme and have (so far) with St Louis.

They're also trying to get skill with size around those two you mentioned.

Habs are currently getting outstanding performances from 4 rookies on the blue line. I suspect that performance will fade as the year progresses.

Remember, it's not just Habs fans bashing the Leafs, it's pretty bad on Twitter rn

Most GMs would kill to have Dubas' gig.

Not only did he inherit a great core, he also benefits from an unlimited budget to hire the best coaches, scouts, advisors, analytics, psychologists, medics, and everything else that can give his team an edge on the margins.

Sure, answering a bunch of questions from a packed house of cynical journalists is annoying, but it doesn't really consume more than 10 hrs out of his year.

BTW, People love to bash. It's 80% of the Internet's purpose.

People here provide Jack Campbell's save percentage in real time, yet I don't accuse anyone here of being pre-occupied with OilerHate

can't really keep track - did he inherit a fantastic core or is the core rotten and needs to be dismantled?

HabFan is not some monolith, singular voice. About half of us (including myself) think Dubas has done a good job.
