I’m not going to be satisfied if they win the first round only to go out in the second round.
But I’m also not going to pretend I wouldn’t be deliriously happy following a first round win. For fuck’s sake, this planet is filled with human beings who’ve been born and grown up to adulthood since the Leafs so much as won a single round.

That's what I'm saying. I'll be over the moon, pending their validation of my excitement or usual crushing of my soul in the next round(s).
But I've been saying all this time - this team just needs that one breakthrough to win a round and know they can do it, and then it should be off to the races.

The best thing we can do imo is block out the noise and focus on what's important. Championship. Everything else is just respect in the handshake line.
I don't care about the "lol first round" narrative. They don't give out trophies for making mouth breather trolls look silly. I want a fucking championship before I die though.

Imagine if they never win one in our lifetimes. Imagine posting all this shit for all these years.
We get the enjoyment of watching fun teams in a few eras (Gilmour, then straight into Sundin, and then Matthews), so there's some value in entertainment value.
But holy shit, if they never win...
The Jays will always have those two WS wins we saw. The Raps gave us one recent one to hang our hats on. Just think if the Leafs never actually come through.
Even though I thought we'd have 2 cups minimum with this core so far, I still think they're multiple cup caliber. But damn them if this all turns out to be for nothing.

Pretty simple stuff. But hey, I get that “everybody who doesn’t win the Cup sucks equally” is a coping mechanism for disappointment that works for some, so more power to you.
