Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

The thing about the Pens is that for the most part, "tearing down" will only make them better.

But only if they can get rid of a bunch of contracts to old guys without retaining much.

You know by Monday he's working playoffs in the media.
This is his 6th team. he won't get another chance.

He’s definitely hopping right back into the media. But I wouldn’t count him out of another NHL job.

I thought he was cooked after Calgary, then Pittsburgh came along and gave him their top job. Old boys network FTW.

The right thing to do there is to tear it down. The youngest skater on the team that is any good is 28 and most of the good players are 31-37.

Its over. Let the core pick where they want to go, extract as much as you can and move on.

Absolutely agree this is the right course of action. Whether they’ll take it or not though, we’ll see. Two times now in the Crosby era they’ve come to a fork in the road and opted for “win now” instead of a rebuild.

The first time around they acquired Phil and squeezed out two more Cups. The next time obviously didn’t go as well. But it doesn’t mean they won’t try again.

Sentimentality might come into it too, where the organization and/or the players (who still have full NMC’s) might figure that they’ve won their Cups and just want to have them finish out as career Pens.

He never met a green room he didn't like either

You could still get a lot for Crosby and Malkin and accelerate that but they have no moves.

Their situation isn't all that bad tbh. They have lots of cap heading into next year. They should try to move some of those bad midrange contracts tho.
