It's a risk for sure but he craves the attention in Montreal. All our slugs saw a bump in production under MSL. I'm willing to gamble he can settle in at 70-80 points for four years then back to the 60s etc.

The question then becomes are the extra years worth it. He's surely going to want a NMC if he's signing in Montreal so you're now in a Drouin situation.

I know a lot about Drouins situation and there's real struggle there. I am a little wary of good prima dona players craving attention.

That said he's worth $8m in today's NHL. $9m ask is ridiculous.
