Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

  • Leafs Cup
  • EDM swept in 1st or 2nd rnd
  • OTT just miss (eliminated in their last game), end up with the #16 pick
  • CGY, WPG and VAN end up with picks no earlier than #10. In fact I'd be good with WPG taking pick #16 and OTT moving up to #15.
  • MTL makes a pointless late season run and ends up with the #8-#10 pick

eh, Adin Hill won the cup last year. doesn't really matter.

I think maybe the model overrates Skinner at +7 tho, same as Ullmark, Kuemper, Demko, Samsonov, when his peak so far has been a .913sv% (.908 if you include playoffs).

I'm not saying they can't win with Skinner. We've seen mid level goalies go on runs before often enough. What I'm saying is that it should preclude them from any sort of separation from the pack of contending clubs.

Just noticed that Kylington is out with the same mental issues as before. Don't know if he plays this year.

So if you slot Oesterle in for him that brings the flames down to a +19.
 
Best I can tell these are the Rangers ins and outs this year:


Blais/Tarasenko ---> Wheeler
Gauthier/Kravstov/P.Kane ---> Pitlick/Belzile

Mikkola/Harpur ---> Gustafsson

Halak -----> Quick

A full season of Wheeler might be an upgrade over half a season of Tarasenko....if wheeler can stay healthy.

but Quick is terrible.

I think the model is basing their improvement mostly on the signing of Gustafsson, tbh.
