Is it though? There is another scenario where the current owner wants to keep his team but can't afford to until the arena deal is done. This route alleviates his contractual obligations. Then they work on the arena deal and bring them back in with Atlanta in a couple of years
 
The Coyotes’ current owner got them kicked out of their rink for not paying his rent and taxes. And allegedly skipped out on every single hotel bill for most of this season until the league had to step in and force them to pay.

There’s no way they can let that guy back as an owner once they’ve kicked him out of the club.
 
He should use the $1B to buy an MLS franchise. Way more growth potential and and easier sell in AZ. And the Saputos could send a lovely Christmas card to the Molsons.
 
Yeah, Boots gets the silver medal. John Spano (tried to buy the Stars and NYI) gets bronze - he also did time for fraud.

If the Isles can hold onto this lead against the rangers for 1 more period, there's a very good chance of NY-NY and CAR-PIT first round matchups, which would both be cool.
