Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

So sorry I forgot that detail. Forgive me. I never claimed any of us thought he was going to win the Vezina for us, but we were all happy with him before he couldn’t get us ahead in the playoffs and we let him walk.

Except I just showed you receipts that I wasn't and considered him a 1B (which just to avoid confusion, is the bottom end of a tandem...so a guy that you trust with 30-35ish games a year of hopefully average play) and not someone I was happy with as our #1 or 1A.

and as for the "detail". That's cool, but spare me the "lol revisionist history" bullshit when you have obvious gaps in your recollection.

I’m not even reading your posts with that dickhead antagonizing and distracting me after each one.

I mixed up that LA had just signed him with our extending him. Big fucking deal.

I think Stolarz and Brossoit are UFA maybe just grab one of them.

I'm pro Stolarz and brought him up as a potential punt a few years ago, but bringing in a guy who has never played more than 28 NHL games in a season and has averaged 27 games per season in his entire career from junior onward....might....might be a bad idea when 1) his tandem mate would be another guy who considers 25 games in a season a heavy workload and 2) You're allegedly trying to win something.

If the NHL was shrinking the schedule to 40 games next year, that might be a sneaky genius move.

I think the whole no dealing in division thing is overblown. It’s Linus Ullmark not Bobby Orr. If Boston gets the best return from the Leafs they should do it it’s not like cockblocking them prevents them from getting a G elsewhere
Overblown? No, it's definitely a thing.

In the last 60+ years, the Habs and Bruins have traded with each other a grand total of 3 times, the last of which (Eric Weinrich for Patrick Traverse) happened in 2001.

Since the 67 expansion, the Leafs and Bruins have made 13 trades but the last one was in 2010.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Ullmark.

Ullmark and Saros look real good.

Every time we get a goalie we pick the wrong one. Either they are obviously shit (Raycroft), or it’s a cheap out bet on small sample sizes (Toskala, Mrazek, Campbell, Bernier).

The only time we just went out and got a good goalie in the last 20 years was Andersen, and it led to 4 years of top 10 goaltending.

If Saros, Ulmark or Sorokin are available it’s a no brainer. We’d have Bruins level goaltending with one of them and Woll, which would take this team to a whole different level.

Legit question.

Why can't the leafs get a PLD like package for marner.?
PLD had more question marks..yet had that elusive size as an option. But a way crappier reputation and I think we can get some of that young potential type of player in a package for marner.

I see no reason why it's not available, the issue i'd be concerned about is Treliving forcing the issue of including a number 1 D ( in his mind) in the deal.

The other thing that would be a mistake is thinking a Marner trade means you dont have to force Tavares out. It's still terrible value at 11M

Good PLD is a 60 point second line center that can’t play tough matchups and everyone on his team hates tho.

Marner is one of the best players in the league. That package is not better.
