Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

I tried warning you all about Anderson at the time. Paying a guy like the random outlier career season they had in their mid-to-late 20’s is going to be their minimum level of production going forward is a recipe for disaster.
He will be on LTIR less time than Tanev

You won’t get any argument from me that signing 35 year-old injury-prone players to big six-year contracts is also a bad idea.

Though Tanev, unlike Anderson, is at least actually a good hockey player. And all they’re hoping is that he continues to play like he has for the last several years, instead of hoping that handing him a big pile of money will spontaneously teach him how to be a significantly better hockey player.

Will still probably end in disaster, but unlike the Anderson signing, there’s at least a faint wisp of a hope at the outset that it might not.

One preceeds the other. Serious mental issues. Emotional instability. He should have never signed in a big market.

But....he was injured and shit in Columbus. He was no worse in Montreal than he was in Columbus.

Almost identical games played, goals and points across his 2 NHL stops. He was just never good.

Actually it does.

Demidov is all eye test baby. Top Russian prospects are usually in the KHL by that age, there's not a whole lot of data to compare him to other than Kucherov and Panarin. A late 2nd rounder who was most of a development year younger than Demidov by the time their were drafted, and Panarin, who was an undrafted late bloomer.

The rest of the high performing Russians in the league were all in the KHL by their draft years.

1.35 P/60 in his first year in Montreal isn't exactly encouraging. It's hard to do as a fan when you're tanking, but getting attached to players who only put up decent-ish counting stats while playing huge roles on a bad team usually doesn't turn out well.

He might improve some but I don't think he's the team level improvement you're looking for if the expectation is to be an 80+ point team this year.

Put it this way. He's probably not going to be one of your top 6 forwards by the time this rebuild is done. We had some similar level young guys the last time we were terrible and they weren't bad players, but by the time we got good the Bozak's, JVR's, etc were nowhere near being top 6 players for us and left the organization.
Well he was ppg his second season if it makes you feel any better. Anyone who's actually watched him play knows that there's something there if he can come back from missing a whole season. Big if.

But you were talking about how we could be better from last season and didnt talk about our second line C missing the whole year, betraying your lack of knowledge. Happy to help.

Sure, if it were true.

It's not though, like, even fucking remotely.

But Dach isn't actually a centre. In his healthy year with Montreal you used Suzuki, Dvorak, and Monahan ahead of him at centre. He wins like 35-40% of draws, he's a winger.

lol

Not his fault he wasn’t afforded playing time in the KHL

If he plays in the KHL this year (not a sure thing given his club knows he’s leaving at the end of the year) how many points would he need to get to change your 2nd liner prediction?
