Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Walking around with an endocrinology report stating he has room to grow still is an all time classic for me.

Neither are really "gaffes" yet but yeah, do the draft over and he probably goes top 5. Leafs would have sure as shit taken him over Danforth that's for sure.

I dunno.

Taking Orville Redenbacher over Michkov and Slaf over Logan Cooley sure look like gaffes to me.

It's not a sprint

Michkov wanted Philly. This is known now and reported. Reinbacher will never score like Michkov but if he becomes a minute eating solid defender I'm fine with it. Time will tell.

Cooley looks great sure but another small forward, like Michkov. Just how many can you have? You guys like to make smurf jokes then mock that the Habs don't take smurfs.

The irony.

Demidov is 6'1" and decimating KHL records.

Michkov is 5'10" and still having trouble finding his own zone.

If I can only have one I take the former. Something made the Habs, and other teams, pass. Sure we can question why but without all the info? It's kinda pointless.

It is strange that the Habs took huge swings on skill everywhere except their top 5 picks. They drafted skilled midgets like Caulfield/Hutson, trading for Laine/Dach/Newhook. But they did learn their lesson and fix it this year.

Michkov is 5'10"

So you're saying he's going to be stuck being a point guard his entire career? Going to really struggle rebounding the ball eh?

and still having trouble finding his own zone.

as a 19 yr old, in the NHL, while putting up very good numbers for a 19 yr old in the NHL. You make way, way too much of this.

If I can only have one I take the former.

But...you could have had both. Nobody made you pick one or the other.

Something made the Habs, and other teams, pass.

Stupidity.

Michkov was never going to play in Montreal. Would have been a Lindros-style waste of time drafting him. And Cooley is small. The Habs need size. Besides, Slaf is still going to be a stud and he's got the perfect temperament and personality to thrive in Montreal.

Hughes knows Cooley personally and he still took Slaf instead.

If you say so. Considering the improvement and underlying numbers that support the improvement, I'll give Hughes some leeway here.

You can arm chair it all you like.
