DeAngelo signed by Islanders. Patrick Roy will strangle him.
He's a high volume shooter, mostly from low danger areas. Occasionally he'll get lucky and score but in general he'll have a sustainably low shooting percentage. It's crazy how this guy can accidentally have a good opinion every once in awhile and then just be completely out to lunch on most things.
They both used to be. Unfortunately those aspects have been largely expunged from both sports. How exactly are baseball and basketball violent?
I tried to like soccer. I try every time the World Cup is on. But it's just doesn't do it for me. During Covid I started watching the Guinness 6 Nations Rugby championship and I've been absolutely hooked on it since. But rugby, of course, isn't a sport full of pussies like soccer.
I don't give a shit how many people watch it. A lot of people watched Everybody Loves Raymond too. It didn't make it a good show. It, like soccer and basketball, is garbage. All sports were better when they were more violent. Even British soccer was more engaging back in the 70s when guys would subtly kick and punch each other when the ref wasn't looking.Clearly removing violence (often involving fans!) from basketball has badly hurt the growth of the sport and they barely, barely turned over 12 billion in revenue last year.
How I spend my time and money on sports is entirely about me. The NBA made $12 billion last year. My contribution to that total was $0.00.Have you ever stopped to consider that it's not about you?

And yet, the product has been getting steadily more tedious to watch. Eventually that's going to matter. But that's the point of the entire fucking conversation....which sports are gaining (or losing) popularity, at what rates, etc.
The NBA has been on a very impressive 10-20 year run of growing the sport internationally.

Did the NBA and China start hugging again after that Morey comment years ago ?But that's the point of the entire fucking conversation....which sports are gaining (or losing) popularity, at what rates, etc.

I like sports that bleed.
The athletes are just a means to an end. I cheer for teams, not individual players. Once a player is no longer on my team they are dead to me. They exist for my entertainment. Once they no longer do that they no longer have any value. My fealty to sports is purely transactional. Why do you hate the athletes you cheer for?
