While there were a whole lotta hilarious hot takes on here 7 games into the season (that some of us are too kind and generous to bring up), its funny that the Mrazek 1 game hottake has been able to survive still thanks to his injury.

Reimer couldn't stay healthy in the heavier workloads, and has never taken the true starter's job anywhere else either.

Good goalie, but more of a good 1B than anything else.

The correct answer is that Carolina's defence is now terrible, since as you'll recall, the reason for Fred's early good numbers was that he was finally playing behind a decent defensive club.
 
I guess this is goodbye for Semyonov, given that noone from the no-depth Leafs ever makes it through waivers.

Back to this shit show for a moment. Here's what concerns me, and I mentioned it a few weeks ago....

As angry as most of us are right now, we all know that this is still a really good team, they're going to regress to the mean and start blowing people's doors off, win 8-10 straight or something stupid and get back to looking like the 105+ point team they are. But the same people around the city screeching about it being broken, blow it up will just pivot to their safe space "the regular season doesn't matter". Which of course really means "the regular season doesn't matter if they're playing well....if they're struggling, the regular season matters a whole lot and fire/trade everyone".

The fanbase is really close to becoming a gravitational singularity of idiocy that they will be unable to escape from. It will be a downward narrative that I can only hope ends in mass suicide.

Both things can be true. I mean, Kampf for 3C, Mimsy for top 6, Mrazek are looking a little fugly at the moment. That his spectacular drafting is paying dividends on the blueline, legacy core are fucking fantastic, and Jack being a brilliant get are carrying the load doesn't change how the summer went down. Last deadline to this summer was not strong work overall.
 
Yeah I'm liking Kampf quite a bit. Foligno and Mims were clear mistakes tho, unless Kyle was looking to implement comedy in the lineup.
