Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Rich people, particularly rich white males, never have to suffer consequences for their actions. Wirtz lacks self-awareness because he doesn't need to have any. If something bad happens he can just throw money at it until it goes away. If Wirtz hadn't been born on third base he wouldn't have the smarts needed to flip burgers or pump gas for a living. But somehow this living, breathing example of the Peter Principle owns an NHL team.

It reminds me of a story that Fran Lebowitz once told about driving with a colleague through the Princeton University campus where she was to do a speaking engagement. At one point a couple of co-eds just blindly sauntered out into the street without looking to see if cars were coming or not. Lebowitz's colleague had to swerve to miss hitting them and asked "What the hell is wrong with those kids? Don't they know to look before stepping off the curb?"

Lebowitz simply said that the reason the students of this Ivy League school were so clueless is because nothing bad has ever happened or likely ever will happen to them. They have been able to go through life without a care in the world about anything and their obscene wealth allows them to live in this bubble. Wirtz was born rich and his dad was a first class douche so he has no filter and doesn't get why he needs one.

Applies to a segment of wealthy in every corner of the globe, regardless of race, religion or creed …

Yeah, that's an all-time bad look. Like, good lord. You'd have a hard time ever seeing a better example of someone having a lack of self-awareness.
and it was a softball question

just talk about all the shit you did in corporate speak to make sure it does not happen again
