Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Josh Norris signs an extension with Ottawa.

8 years @ $7.95M annually.
Personal note on that. His grandfather taught me Math at University in NL nearly 50 years ago and came from the same village as my father. One day he showed up on a pond with his two small kids and we had a game of 3 on 2 with them and my buddy. One of those kids was Dwayne Norris, a scorer of a winning goal for Canada at the WJC a few years later and former pro with a few games in the show. He is the father of Josh.

Not sure how much time Josh spent in NL, if any as Dwayne went to University in the U.S. on a scholarship and never returned. Josh was raised in the U.S. But when he made the league, I smiled. Small world sometimes,

Yeah, Dubas's offseason has been completely baffling. He somehow managed to downgrade in net, which is... uh... an interesting way to go at it.

Toronto has one option, and it's too late now: They need to trade Tavares and with the return, they need to upgrade their defense.

It would go against Dumb-ass’a entire philosophy. It’s almost as if he’s trying to prove to the world how much smarter he is than everyone else

Soon to be 19-years and counting…

We’ve won 10 playoffs rounds since the Leafs’ last, and we’ve been to the conference finals or more 3 times, and we’ve been an example of mediocrity. That Toronto streak is as improbable and uncanny as Canada’s drought since 1993.

Even more so considering that the Leafs teams during the last twenty years have been mostly better (save for a few years ago when they were tanking) than the Habs.

Yup , time for the McDonough treatment

WE LOVE YOU BUT ............................

Looking at CBJ roster, their top C is Roslovic…

They have $3M in cap space, so does Laine get dealt to address C - either via swap deal or freed up $ used to sign a C?
