Yeah. He doesn't know how to play hockey at this level.
The Hoffman signing might be the absolute most desperate thing The Charlatan did during his tenure here.
We all know there was a certain type of player he liked, and Mike Hoffman is the complete opposite of that. He was a desperation signing to fill a need to get more goals, similar to what Columbus did by signing Erik Gudbransson to that ludicrous contract.

I mean, while it was a major mistake and someone badly fucked up their evaluation, at least Alzner is consistent with the type of player he wanted. See Douglas Murray, Chiarot, Edmundsson, Savard, etc. He's always like his big, physical, clear the front of the net d-men.
Hoffman, on the other hand... I remember early on in his tenure, some of the media were criticizing him for not signing UFAs and The Charlatan said something to the effect that not all UFAs are interested in coming here and that we're not interested in all UFAs, while using the example of Gustav Nyqvist as a player that he wasn't interested in.
Well, while Nyqvist wasn't nearly as boneheaded on the ice as Hoffman is, they're not that dissimilar in their style of play.

Calgary will probably pay the most but they likely believe they can resign Hubie and Weegar. This will restrict their offers imo.
