Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

The stars are starting to align for HuGo to take Leafs or Sens to the cleaners w both GMs fighting to conceivably save their jobs - the only real obstacle is Yotes / Chychrun and Ducks / Klingberg (but he’s not the solution for either teams need)

There is no messiah waiting to save anybody

Start firing and both teams would be morons to cave

Who do we have that we would like to trade and they would like to acquire?

Still don't see why people are sure he'll bolt

I think Bettman wants him to go to Arizona and what the evil dwarf wants, he gets. To stay in Toronto, he will demand 15 million, affordable for them but if they aren't winning with him, why would he stay? It is interesting because part of me agrees with you and Nova that he won't leave but he doesn't seem to be a pussy like McDavid who signed long term. He seems more NBA like and says, fuck you, pay me or I go. No NBA star would have stayed in Edmonton and most leave Toronto when they can too.

Its not money for superstars , its whatever the fuck he wants to do

Gaudreau took a pay cut to go to the States , he left on his own terms .

I don't think so, no.

I'd see if I could get something like,

Edmundson with 50% retention
Fairbrother (To even out the contracts)

Villeneuve
2024 2nd
Holl (To even out the salaries)
I think this could possibly considered a fair deal.

I'd be shocked if Toronto traded Knievs for one of Edmundsson or Savard.

They won't move either unless it's a really good D. Better than Edmundson anyway.

You high on Villeneuve?
I liked Villeneuve a lot in Junior when he played with Jeremy Poirier. Jeremy Poirier was the guy that had a lot of hype behind him that year, but I always thought Villeneuve looked better. I wanted us to draft him in the 3rd/4th in his draft season. Poirier's upside is pretty high, but he was a disaster in his own end. If he figures that part out, he could be a pretty good NHLer.

I don't think he's a shoe-in for an NHL roster spot, but he has the possibility of maybe making it on the third pair for a team.

For me, the key part in that trade is the second round pick. Sort of like last year's Toffoli/Chiarot trades; The key parts weren't the prospects we received, it was the first round picks.

I can see Dubas giving up a second and a middling prospect like that for a veteran but since of these other "deals"?
