Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

I'm honestly surprised friendly fire doesn't happen more often in hockey. Hockey players are so fucking careless when they take out their frustrations.

Hockey players are, for a very large part, completely insensitive to violence around them. You have slashing, cross checks, spears, checking, etc on every shift and nobody bats an eye. They're even encouraged to use their stick discourage other players from going to the danger areas.

Random thought: The more I watch modern hockey & see some of the other I see hockey from 10-15 years ago, the more I feel enraged that hockey was stuck in the stone ages by these old, conservative dinosaurs for 15 years from 1990 to 2005.

What a fucking waste of time for everyone involved. It is incredible how bad late 90s, early 2000s hockey was.

While hockey hasn't gotten incredibly more entertaining recently, it's still stuck in the stone ages. Stick violence needs to be eradicated from hockey altogether, but we're stuck with a head of office that is all too happy to sit on his fucking ass and count his money, passively doing nothing.

The NFL is the gold standard for a sports league across the planet, as far as I'm concerned, and they aggressively try to figure out ways to make their product better every single off-season. They aren't stuck with this "old time" state of mind because that's the way it is! Yeah, fuck that.

I'm guessing the game went into OT because Luongo shit the bed in the last minute allowing Tampa to tie it.

And give me a break with the NFL. It's a pantywaist league now where anything that in any way thwarts offense (like, y'know, playing good defense?) is now illegal. All a QB has to do is throw the ball in the vicinity of a receiver and wait for the inevitable pass interference call to move the ball down the field for him. So many ticky-tack penalties just like in hockey. You start wondering if men even still play these sports anymore.

Oh yeah. The memes that came out of that one were glorious.

SCOUTING REPORT
The shifty, elusive forward has great hands, excellent offensive instincts and a terrific wrist shot that should keep him in the NHL for years. He knows how to get into dangerous scoring areas and can play either wing position. Lacks ideal size for an NHL forward, does not have great top-end speed and occasionally plays too much on the periphery. However, he should be able to score enough to keep earning ice time.

Long Range Potential: Shifty winger with a big-time shot.

Currently on 2nd year of 3year / $1.45M AAV deal
