If a player joined the KKK and spread it around on social media he'd find himself unemployed the same day. The right to protest may be sacrosanct but the right to be free from the consequences of your bad decisions on what side to support or protest against is not. Any pro-Russia players, coaches, managers, owners, fucking peanut vendors need to feel the pain because they are reprehensible fascists who don't deserve to earn a living in a democracy. I am intolerant of intolerance. I also call bullshit when people try to both sides an issue on which there is only one right side.

So Provorov "doesn't agree with the LGBTQ lifestyle"? Well, first of all, it isn't a lifestyle and secondly how Provorov "feels" about them is irrelevant. You don't get to disagree with people being granted their basic human rights without consequences. And using his religion as an excuse is just more cowardly bullshit. If he had the courage of his convictions Provorov would simply admit that he's a proud homophobe. But no. Instead, like the cowardly Russian he is, he hides behind religion to rationalize his bigotry. If you're the member of a church that gives you a license to be intolerant of homosexuals your church needs to be told to stay in its fucking lane or start paying taxes.

The NHL needs to show some backbone for once here. Provorov is an unrepentant bigot and he needs to be punished.

And so does that Putin bootlicker Ovechkin.

“Cowardly Russian?” Hmm . . .
 
For a player that I thought was going to see his career derail because of the numerous injuries he had, that's pretty damn cool. And he's only 32, turning 33 in three weeks.

And the injuries did slow him down considerably. In his early 20s, he was putting up nearly Ovechkin-esque statlines.

In his first four years: 325GP 179G 150A 329PTS

That's a 45G 37A 82PTS pace.

Pretty great.
