Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

I'm not driving 3 hours to Cowtown unless the Habs or Als are playing. And what makes you think that the tickets would be cheaper? Calgary has more money than Edmonton. All the big oil companies are there. All we have in Edmonton are civil servants.
Last year playoff tickets were much cheaper in Calgary than in Edmonton.

Teams that select first round picks and offer them an ELC (at any point) and the player end up going unsigned? The team gets a 2nd round pick comp pick.

That's the only possible situation.
We got that once iirc.

Also rangers got that for the Russian kid that died as well

I used to be of the same opinion but I’m not so sure now. I think he’s generational and it will be fun to watch him challenge McDavid for scoring titles.
No guarantees he continues on the same line as McDavid. But imo bedard's draft year has been better than McDavids.

Bedard
57 games - 71 goals - 72 assists - 143 points - 2.51 PPG
- Led his team in scoring by ... 57 points. Led the WHL in scoring by 36 points.
- Turns 18 in July.
- Dominated the world juniors.

McDavid
47 games - 44 goals - 76 assists - 120 points - 2.55PPG
- Not the leading scorer on this team. Was third in scoring in the OHL (9 points back).
- Had Dylan Strome and Debrincat. Dermott on D.
- Turned 18 in Janurary.
- Just okay at the world juniors.
- Did punch the glass and break his hand.

Like I said - no promises that his development keeps up with McDavid and I am not sure how scoring in the WHL this year and OHL 2014-15 compares but judging by what he did vs the next best in the WHL and what he did vs peers at the world juniors...I take the Bedard draft season.

I know you will hate reading this but . . . McDavid’s size gives him a very big advantage over Bedard in the NHL, especially since McDavid’s skating and speed are exceptional anyway.

Don't hate it at all. Which is why I was very specific about comparing draft years not NHL impact. I think his skating is a bigger thing than size.

And his endurance is also massive. No clue how the guy just blows by everybody at the end of a 2 minute shift.

McJesus is on his own planet , no player has/had those 3 insane gears, plus balance and agility as a skill set

He processes everything at top speed , truly ridiculous to watch

It is insane.

I've never seen anybody generate solo offense like him. Maybe Mario?

He wont get away with splitting the D like pylons every night in the NHL

he is faster with than without the puck. NHL dmen are too respectful (fearful) though, hit him constantly, he freaks out.

I got tickets to Game 1 in Edmonton for $154 each this morning. I paid $135 to watch the Habs play a meaningless game against the Blues at the Bell Centre a couple of months ago. Can't imagine them being much cheaper than that.

Moot point now in any event since Sutter screwed the pooch last night.
