Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

I would get a smalll little laugh if Colorado lost in the first round. I might be extra petty and look for the people on Twitter who insisted that their window was wide open.

Losing Kadri, Burakovsky, Landeskog (via injury), Kuemper and replacing them with virtually nothing of note, and with Makar & Toews not having the best of seasons?

Not good at all.

If Landeskog was still playing, I'd give them a much better shot, but they're already so thin.

Colorado has zero, and I do mean absolutely zero, players of note in their pipeline. There's no young talent on the way up to fill the cheap spots.

They've got their first round picks, but late firsts aren't going to get them NHL players for at least 2-3 years after the pick's been made.

Their best bet this summer? Trade Girard for picks and prospects.

Their second best bet? And it would definitely make them worse short-term, but, strongly consider trading Devon Toews.

DT is going to cost 7 mil

Agreed need to take a step back and reboot the depth to help the cap

Nah, he's getting $8M minimum.

Think of the John Carlsson and Mikhail Sergachev contracts. His agent should, and most likely will, point to those and elaborate with Toews deserves something around that.

Still so much skill in Colorado. Going to be hard for them next year, only 13 players signed for 70M. Good luck filing that roster.
They're the Buffalo bills but actually won one. They're good when healthy but don't have the depth to withstand multiple injuries. That's why guys like Sutter and Trotz never changed, they want a plug and play system (read ugly) so that any good player can be inserted.

Yeah that doesn't win either but that's the theory.

Go nuts and trade Rantenan for a massive haul :geek:

Newhook’s lack of development has really hurt them.

Fully expect Sakic will try to dangle him for a 1st rounder this draft..
