Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

teams can go decades without sniffing elite talent (don't have to look that far to see that)...it's a scarcity issue and more expansion teams will just make that worse

Ultimately every team uses their innate advantages

California + Sun belt have weather and golfing
FL and TX have no state taxes
NY is the big apple
MTL and TOR can offer most of the money up front

Winnipeg is truly fucked. Nobody wants to play there.

exactly....if teams want to stay competitive but don't have elite players, by definition they will have to overpay for their own B+ talent
Sure , B+ talent like Nick is one thing

D level scrubs that are a dime a dozen is the issue

Not too hard to find the 20 goals combined Gally and Hoffman get for a mil each , not 13% of your cap

Alzner types should be waiting in Laval that you insert on the cheap

He's nothing more than a depth player who can still score dirty goals. Even his shot has declined.

I don’t think Gallagher has declined that significantly, yes some. The real issue IMO, the league overall has become much faster & skilled - lack of time & space component has severely eroded Gallagher’s game

Three years ago he was one of the drivers on one of the best lines 5 on 5 in the league.

League hasn't changed that much.

Gallagher was firmly a B+ talent before his body got shattered in pieces

I dunno. Granted, Gallagher was ballz to the wallz, stretching every scintilla of effort to just get into B territory for three seasons. He literally broke himself. And that’s why people admire him.

Suzuki is playing within himself, attaining B+ with far more ease. It looks to be sustainable for a decade if he avoids injury. I don’t think it’s that close, frankly.
