This will be a disaster , brutal for the leagueI think NHL simply needs to allow “franchise player” designation. Each team is allowed 1-player & that AAV doesn’t count vs cap. Pick a max number for that AAV say $18M for giggles

The years is currently 2x remaining yearsFranchise player is an option, but I’d just do a small tweak on the buyouts. Buy outs at 50% and teams can decide on how many years to spread it over, with a max of 2x the remaining contract years.
the owners cannot control themselves, it is not up to the players to agree to something the owners will break before the ink is dry.The years is currently 2x remaining years
Whatever changes are done , your simply giving more ammunition to the agents
Its simple ....stop handing out fucked up contracts
If your stupid enough to give Gally and Price 20% of the cap , its all on the regime
If you give player X who is 70 point player now 8x 8 at 29 years of age dont bitch that years 5-8 look like shit , they were most likely going to be shit as GGPX stated over and over .
Common sense is 2/3 of your solution
it works for the NBA.This will be a disaster , brutal for the league
NBA has way more flexibilty to move contracts and manage your businessit works for the NBA.
I am not saying for players to do anything , simply owners to stop being fucken moronsthe owners cannot control themselves, it is not up to the players to agree to something the owners will break before the ink is dry.
we could have a luxury tax too but the owners claim not to want itNBA has way more flexibilty to move contracts and manage your business
League shits piles of money and rules to go into luxury taxes
NHL is pee wee league in comparison
The Tin Man's uniform fits him very well.
The honeymoon between Columbus & Jiricek seems to be over:

You know how this comes off to me? A lot like when The Charlatan was here. Old school, figure it out, kid! type of attitude towards prospects.
Columbus is a shithole and they've been healthy scratching their young players like Jiricek & Ken Johnson too often.
My opinion of rebuilds is simple: There is no end in sight until you figure out a way to get your franchise center and/or franchise d-man. Ideally both, but at least one of the two. Buffalo got Eichel, which looked like a franchise center, but unfortunately he's in the Tavares level. Really awesome player, but not good enough on his own to take the next step. Buffalo's got their franchise d-man in Dahlin and now they can start planning for the future.Yes, another team that has had a boatload of draft picks and no clue what to do with them. There is no sign any progress is being made there either. If you don't have the right management or approach those kind of "rebuilds" can last for generations.
I don’t think you get it. Owners makes stupid decisions all the time. All they need is a way to get out of it, and let the players have a bit of their share. Fair buyouts are the way to go.The years is currently 2x remaining years

Cause their fucken stupid trying to save their jobs that will get them fired anywaySo why do GMs keep giving out those contracts if it’s so simple then? It’s not going to stop by itself
No other viable choice in their minds. They go with the devil they know. Pretty standard for people. So why do GMs keep giving out those contracts if it’s so simple then? It’s not going to stop by itself
Sure but do it for a difference maker and deal with the cap laterNo other viable choice in their minds. They go with the devil they know. Pretty standard for people.
And if you don't have and what you currently have is better than what's available?
