That's not necessarily true as evidenced by the McGroarty Yager tradeYou know what kind of prospects do get traded, though? The ones that teams don't actually value

The times those players get traded are exceptional circumstances, see Askarov. If given the choice, I don't think either Winnipeg or Nashville would have traded those players. But since the players basically told them to fuck off...That's not necessarily true as evidenced by the McGroarty Yager trade
Yup.That’s a dumb take, no offense. Fowler is a few years away. Askorov is now. That would be the appeal of him.

I don't think Askarov's potential is higher than Montembeault/Primeau over the next 2 seasons. We have a cap structure with two young goalies worked in already with Fowler 2-3 years away as he's turning 20 in November.Yup.
Askarov would be Montembault's backup this year and possibly the starter next year... Assuming he's as good as he's been made out to be.
Both things can be true. I don’t have a problem trading Primeau for Askarov for example. If they truly believed in Fowler they wouldn't have made calls on Askarov. Maybe they just didn't believe in Askarov at the price Nashville was asking.
There was only low ball offers for Askarov, as it should be. But it wasn’t worth sacrificing anything of value. Goaltending is the least of my worries, for pretty much my whole lifetime as a Habs fan.I don't think Askarov's potential is higher than Montembeault/Primeau over the next 2 seasons. There was no point in expending assets like a first rounder for a sideways move or at best a slight improvement in net. Nashville wasn't going to trade him for Primeau and Mesar.
If that's the whole deal... That's pretty fair considering Winnipeg's hands were tied. Definitely better for Pittsburgh though.
It's primeau numbers.Actually its pretty good.
you prefer them to play where they don't want to be?I am glad we didn't trade for McGroarty, I don't like it when a player(kid) who has never played in the NHL demands a trade ..
Yes I do... play where you are drafted..that is the way it is has been since the draft started in 1963..you prefer them to play where they don't want to be?
Except for Lindros, Adam Fox, Cutter Gauthier, McGroarty. Last three are NCAA players. Not a coincidence. They have leverage if they are “stars.”Yes I do... play where you are drafted..that is the way it is has been since the draft started in 1963..
