I have no ability to stop either one. The Leafs winning is not something I have any say in, one way or the other. I would prefer they lose but sooner or later, they will win, they are way overdue. As you have stated, CanadienFan has not suffered long enough, the Leafs winning would be a massive jolt of suffering which using your logic would be good for us.

Except it wouldn't. Most fans today have never seen us win a Cup and the Leafs are not seen as much of a rival as Boston. The Leafs winning wouldn't force the Habs to do anything. Only a team in Quebec City having more success would get anything done in Montreal. It's not for no good reason that the Habs started bottoming out as soon as the Nordiques left for Denver.
As for annexation, maybe you can't do anything but your son, young Skywalker can.

A Leafs win may cause me to suffer, but them winning doesn't do anything for the Habs. This is yet another one of your strawmen. I'm not saying that Habs fans have to suffer by watching our hated rivals win a Cup. We need to suffer the Habs continuing to lose so that we might win down the road. It has zero to do with any other team winning. That's just personal.
If the Cowboys were to win the Superbowl (crazy, I know) that would annoying me but it would have zero impact on whether or not the Habs have a successful rebuild. Same is true if the Leafs win. Depressing, but no bearing on anything the Habs do or don't do.
And If we do get invaded, it needs to happen before my next birthday otherwise I'll be exempt due to age, even for the Home Guard.
