Canes Sign Kotkaniemi To Offer Sheet/Habs Don't Match

Dear old I70. I’ve also made the trek. There is no road I loathe as much as 70 from the tunnels to Glenwood Springs. Vail pass is a nightmare as is glenwood canyon. But, I love the area around Vail and Steamboat. I’ve a good friend that lives in Grand Lake. He’s a retired forest ranger for that area and is in a first name basis with all the moose and elk.
We're not taking I-70. When you come from the Northeast, you go I-90 to I-80 to I-76.

I'll be taking I-70 when I drive back to Raleigh next week.

Then how can you sign anyone?? You have to discuss parameters.. Remember he's a free agent. (Restricted) but he wasn't signed
Wat would it take to get your client to sign is by definition a fair question..
Now I'll agree handshake deals aren't allowed. Course who was the shark that signed for 1 million last or the before season that just signed for 5?
You can only discuss parameters of the offer sheet. It’s very narrow. No extensions or what are you looking for later.

The point is that if they want the player long term, offer sheet him long term.

You know we're wasting a lot of bandwidth on something Georges Laraque mumbled that has yet to be backed up by a single other human, right? Wake me when somebody gets sanctioned for this. Otherwise it's white noise.

Cory Lavalette says the Canes sent the offer to Montreal about 5:30 pm last Saturday, so they have until about then or whenever they received it to match.

Sorry Habsy, but the Canes are going to have no issues with fitting Necas under the cap. If KK works out, the Canes let Trocheck and possibly Nino N. leave as UFAs. Plenty of cap space.
And if he doesn't? You think Waddell will cut his losses and let him go to free agency? Seems unlikely.

I think the idea is that he’ll be given every opportunity to succeed. More than likely, he’ll spend his first season on the wing, probably on Trocheck’s line with Necas on the other wing. He won’t play center unless there is an injury to Aho, Trocheck or Staal and even then it’s more likely that Stepan moves up than KK moves in.

If he fails as a middle 6 wing playing on a Cup contender then he fails. One thing we know about Tom Dundon is that he’s ruthless when it comes to paying players and isn’t ruled by emotion. He let Dougie Hamilton walk, you don’t think he’d let KK walk if he flopped?

Match all you'll want. It will still fuck up the pay structure. The more you're fucked with the harder it is to win in this league.

Molson isn't really the type to do this heavily. Bergevin is.

No matter this plays out, I'm impressed that Montreal was able to maintain absolute radio silence for an entire week.

He's not a winger... at all. Your GM didn't give 6.1 millions, a first and a third to have him play a position he's been terrible at everytime he's been tried.

Wonder what happens next summe if he gets 40 points and Necas 60. Should be interesting.

The Canes have Aho, Trocheck, Staal and Stepan down the middle. Which of them does KK replace?

Pressure on the coaching staff and KK to make this work now. You figure you have to go back to, 2006? to find a deeper group of forwards on a Canes team?

They are fine cap wise

Slavin is the only piece left to worry about down the road

They will let Trochek walk in the summer if needed

Probably. This 4th line is probably better than the Adams Family and LaRose.

There are still people out there that really think this was solely an effort by tghe
Dont know maybe your dumbass GM shouldn't do offer sheets out of spite.
Still people out there that think this was mostly an effort to jam up the Habs and not the Canes jumping at a chance to graba player they wanted and tried to trade for? Don Waddell doesn't do anything without the whole Canes front office's involvement. This was a calculated move to try to acquire a player the Canes wanted (possibly as a replacement for Trocheck next season or Jordan Staal the season after that).

The Canes pulled off the acquisition, now we will see how it works out. If you think this was just the Canes trying to mess with the Habs, well, you are wrong.
