Well, the Clarke kid included in the theoretical deal mentioned is probably our future #1 defender fwiw. The idea behind Mitch to LAK for the aforementioned package wasn't about max value next year on the ice. It would be about cap flexibility now and Byfield + Clarke turning into studs over the next few seasons. Byfield is already pretty close imo.

That's where it would have to be Byfield + Clarke, if PLD was involved.

Mitch was a 94 point top 5 RW in the league by the age Byfield is now, and Clarke is real gud prospect but still a prospect RHD.
