I guess the assumption when making theoretical trades is marner extends with them.
Trading a 1 year rental gets us far less

Yeah, but maybe the alternatives are worse. What if the choices are:That would be kind of a fucking disaster tho...
those are Knies/Robby numbers.
As for Byfield, most of the talk centered around (no pun intended) his likely move back to the middle. As we wrote about last week, all signs point to Byfield back to center next season.
“I’m open to anything; wherever I can play and contribute the most, that’s where I want to be. Ultimately, I do want to be a centerman again. Hopefully in the future, I can do that,” said Byfield. “I’ve played that my whole life growing up, so whenever I can go back to that, I feel pretty comfortable in that.”
That was a dumb trade, but Faber was a SECOND ROUND pick. Byfield was the SECOND pick.
55 pt guy. I mean nice breakout but marner doubles that up.Yeah he's at that age and point in his career where his organization is gonna be way too smitten and emotionally attached to him to trade him for anything. Not saying Mitch isn't superior, but historically teams slobber over home grown guys like Byfield. It'll be tough to get them to let go.
When we're talking about 21-year-old kids, yeah it is. Also Faber's reputation prior to this season (to my knowledge, anyway) was a rock solid top 4 d-prospect with great intangibles but questionable offensive ability.Oh that’s an airtight argument.
Those are Robbie's 22 yr old numbers, and Knies numbers playing on a line with Matthews and Mitch for most of the year. Kopitar & Kempe are pretty good, but they're not that good.
And this is a 21 yr old 6'5 220 pound kid who is really likely going to end up back at centre.
Also already has sexy nerdies in actually difficult usage. 55.6% xG and the Kopitar line does all the lifting for LAK. Byfield actually leads the team in defensive zone starts per 60.
There's risk inherent in any young player developing. But if you're looking for a player type to aim for, it's a monster, mobile 2 way centreman who might just end up elite at everything.
I wouldn't, but his pedigree is the main reason why anyone would consider it. When you combine that with him appearing to break out this year, if they offered him and Hutson for one year of Marner, I would have to consider it, yeah.Slaf was a #1, would you trade Marner for him?
moving back to C just like Willy every year.
And to think it's possible Patrick Marleau is at least partially responsible as to why Mitch Marner is a pissy little cunt.Pisses me off every time I see that name “Jarvis”.
What a shit deal
With Hutson and a 1st? SureSlaf was a #1, would you trade Marner for him?

And hence why he was drafted 2nd overall. These guys are unicorns (when they don’t disappoint which is quite often)
Marner is great but LA is loathe to open up a big hole at C, not when they have Fiala and Kempe at the wings as interesting trade bait
Just spitballing on rough value today. For entertainment purposes only.
