i.e. Sorokin. not Varlamov, he also has his own durability issues and is 36durability >>>

Yeah, but I'd go for the surer thing in Talbot maybe, even if Brossoit has the upside. They could do much worse than Brossoit. The nightmare scenario is spending big $ on a goalie that sucks donkey cock. Or one that isn't necessarily any better than a guy that costs half the price. $3m for a guy that has proven to be exceptional in stretches is hardly a bad thing.
This at least gives them tremendous flexibility to build a juggernaut roster and go balls deep in acquiring a couple of top 4 d, especially if they trade Marner (which feels likely to me).
would rather have shit available during crunch time than nothingexpensive, durable shit is still shit.
Talbot's got age and a lot of miles on him. But they're all risks unless you get a Shesty. So just get a cheap guy and load your roster with talent. I'm surprised that so many folks have the appetite to spend big money on a goalie that you don't even know for sure will perform at an elite level. It's just poor value.Yeah, but I'd go for the surer thing in Talbot maybe, even if Brossoit has the upside.
With Woll and Hildeby, we don't necessarily need a "long-term" solution. Ullmark/Saros would be great, of course, but would also cost a lot of money and assets. If the organization is super high on Woll, that's great, but then Talbot is the play imo. Veteran mentor with 500 games player who isn't really competing for starts with him to help him along in his career is the play. Lower ceiling than Stolarz, but a good bet to be average to average plus.
eh I suspect less than most of us thinkWith Woll and Hildeby, we don't necessarily need a "long-term" solution. Ullmark/Saros would be great, of course, but would also cost a lot of money and assets.
I would put Stolarz & Brossoit in a very similar bucket, it's kind of disingenuous to argue one would be perfect and the other a non-starter. They both have good numbers.
Not opposed to Talbot or even Markstrom, the idea is sound but Cam Talbot is going to turn 37 in July. He could just as easily lose his game or get hurt as any of these other guys, and is actually more likely to do so at that age.
That’s part of the reason I’d be okay with Talbot, that he’ll be cheap too. If not, then forget it. I’ll always go for the cheaper goalie, even if less durable. Our real goalie remedy is through the draft anyway, everything else is a bandaid.Talbot's got age and a lot of miles on him. But they're all risks unless you get a Shesty.
