Honestly don’t get this reasoning— what good GM doesn’t care about 11M in cap space?

This is more about a cheap owner wanting to hit the cap floor without spending all the cash.
 
I think they try to trade Mitch — too much baggage between him and the org over the years, including this recent one

yeah I retract my previous forgiveness of sammy. he could have prevented pasta from getting that puck at all.

The issue is those teams don't have a ton at the NHL level.

Utah - Crouse
SJ - Couture
Chicago - maybe Jones but he is also not good.

Nothing to structure a deal around unless it's futures.
