it started with so much promise, so much potential for greatness and so much hope but the entire shanny tenure has basically turned out about as well as putting jonas in charge. we are just a dumb team
 
7m saved across just 3 equivalent players is a fucking wild savings. Agree about the tax savings things being a huge deal but that only explains around half of that. The rest is leaf incompetence started by Mr. Dubas. And now they're in an endless chain of giving every last penny to their players. It'll never end till they're all gone.

Continuing the fine Leaf tradition of paying shitty aging backups like they’re starters before they play a single game in Toronto and hoping they magically live up to their pay.

It worked so well with Toskala & Bernier, amirite?

Bernier was 24 when we traded for him.

Toskala was 30 but his numbers were shit the 2yrs before we added him.

And neither of them had any problem with big workloads as leafs, of course.
 
I'm not sure the leafs have ever gone the "sign the backup goalie with elite stats to be a tandem with our young starter" route before tbh. Think this would be a first.
 
It's the very obviously best, most efficient move they could have ever made this summer. Wild, after everything we've seen from goaltending and teams easily persevering with average goalies, that we still want to blow our load on someone.
