Why? All he had to do was....play better, lead better. This was 2+ yrs over-overdue and should have never happened in the first place tbh. Matthews has been the franchise since he was 19. A guy like Tavares, with no track record as a winner, gets brought in to be a gud pro Lieutenant to your young franchise guy, not to be his Captain for the next 6 years.
