Exhibition GDT - Toronto vs Buffalo Part I and II

I'm torturing myself watching the Jays. Can someone please give me a report on Marner's averageness? Is it good, great or exceptional tonight?

The good play from Holland is nice and all, but we've seen this movie before. When he is on the firing line, he'll up his game. As soon as he feels some security, he goes back to being a passenger.

Tough to watch him get spoon fed chances and have him make a random Buffalo goalie look like vintage Hasek.

I'm a bit surprised at the icetime and linemates he's been handed this preseason. Hope to hell it's to pump his trade value.

He has looked great in both preseason games. Would be a shame to waive him - even if he is just a bottom pair guy, you never want to be in the position to have to waive legit NHL d.

Can anyone think of a team bringing in 3 bluechip offensive dynamos at once in recent memory? I can't find a team with three comparable prospects coming in at once. Chicago had Kane and Toews in the same year.

Parenteau, Grabner and Matthias are being replaced with Marner, Nylander and Matthews. That surely represents a large increase in offensive output.

He played much better last night than in the first game. I can't see them waiving him if he keeps this up. Carrick had a solid game as well. There's some good competition for the bottom pairing. I wouldn't be surprised to see them rotating Polak and Hunwick on one side and Corrado and Carrick on the other to start the season.

No. It's crazy. Three of the top 10 prospects in hockey all debuting in the same year. This is gonna be fun.

I don't think that's possible.

The top 4 is already set, and Hunwick - a guy that Babs called "Hunny", is not moving out of top 4. There are 3 positions up for grab, and it is up to Maricin, Corrado, Carrick and Polak to fight for those 3 jobs.

So far Marincin, Carrick and Corrado have played very well, but they are not going to send Polak down to AHL or trade him, so Toronto will have to rid / waive / trade 1 of those 3 youngish Dmen. Which is a shame.

Hunwick is all about skating it seems. He has some offensive ability but man he does **** up a lot(just not very good with decision making)...so yea he could be moved down.

Maybe we'll have...

Rielly...Marincin
Gardiner...Zaitsev
Hunwick...Corrado
Polak

Really like Corrado's game btw(much more than Carrick). He isn't amazing at anything but just solid on both ends.
