Re: Exhibition GDT - Toronto vs Buffalo

Yeah, that article about Dubas from Simmons is BS. No way our management team does that to Dubas. He's going to be our GM after Lou.

I thought Matthews is playing tonight.

Re: Exhibition GDT - Toronto vs Buffalo

Honestly, not really. Analytics people highly value HD save % and his is average at best. Many nerds believe Bernier is a comparable goalie (and Reimer of course much better).

2015-16 HD Save% (Min 40 gp)
1. James Reimer .874
(Jonas Enroth .866)
2. Brian Elliott .862
3. Corey Crawford .858
4. Thomas Greiss .855
5. MA Fleury .852
6. Jonathan Quick ..847
7. Cory Schneider .844
7. Frederik Anderson .844
9. Henrik Lundqvist .841
10. Petr Mrazek .839

...

Jonathan Bernier . 817

Over the past 3 yrs, Bernier's 5v5 HDSV% is higher than Bishop, Talbot, Dubnyk, Rask, Bobrovsky, Luongo, Varlamov, Mason, Andersen, etc.

Now.. This little factoid makes me extremely skeptical of this stat, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Re: Exhibition GDT - Toronto vs Buffalo

Sure, but the question wasn't "how good was Bernier 3 years ago". The question was "could the Anderson trade have been analytics driven."

And clearly the answer is yes.

Actually 3 year splits are generally the most accurate for goalies especially. There is lots of variation year by year. Much too small of a sample size to measure how good a goalie is.

But again, I'm mostly skeptical that the stat means much. I don't think nerds have really figured out how to measure goaltending metrics yet. Good ol' fashioned save percentage seems to be the best to me at this point.

Boys playing well tonight.

The more I see Marner, the more I am blown away. Please don't be a preseason mirage. Just incredible skill, quickness and smarts.

They're actually paying Dubas a ton. He's well taken care of.

New sweaters need a shoulder patch and they are quite close to Tampa's colors. Logo is sexy though

Marner is sick....sets up Holland on a ****ing platter. Holland of course, couldn't find Helsinki on a map though...no Finnish

Don't worry, I'll show myself out
