Again, the relevance is in it being a proper best on best tournament that the entire hockey playing world cares about. Large best on best tournaments have a clear and obvious track record at positively growing and popularizing sports internationally.

All that being said, still doesn't mean that people can't or won't enjoy the first international tournament in some time. I am looking forward to it.

"whatever this is" seems to be a legit best of the best on best and the players definitely seem very into it.

which is all that actually matters.

not sure why people think the players are extra motivated by a tournament being in the olympics or not.
 
All I care about is whether the players are into it or not. If they go balls to the wall, there is not a single reason to ever complain about a best on best tournament. Why would the name of the tournament be the deciding factor about whether we care or not?
