GDT #56: Leafs @ Habs HNIC

Guess they were gassed Friday night too when they gave up 3 separate leads and eeked out a win on the PP in OT against another shit opponent.

Excuses are for losers.

Did they get outshot 16-1 in the third yesterday?

Must have been gassed losing the lead against Florida as well. And those two goals in 6 seconds to lose to the Rangers, poor guys must have been so tired in that one too.

16-1.

16-1 against the HABS. I don't care about the large number of loser points and the "pace" we are at with Keefe. And injury excuses are for losers. Lots of teams lose players. The Penguins have been without Crosby for weeks. Boston has had injuries. And other teams also can win on back to backs. For some reason it's only this collection of 20 year olds who seemingly can't muster up the energy to play a respectable period on the 2nd day of a back go back with a lead against a trash opponent.

Bunch of loser excuses being thrown around here.

Habs had what 10 shots through two periods?

Took 3 of 4 points and the backup legit looks like an improvement, but some people don't like how it got done...but then pretend out of the other side of their mouth that they believe in results.

Best team in the NHL. Said. Lets see how it plays out. Great team. Love watchin them.

Just love watching pool cue Matthews.

3/4. Pretty good stuff. Its the N H L.

We are going to make the mugoffs and we will kick ass.

Miss Nylander and Zeke though. And Riells.

Lets rock. As Kyle Clifford called us, we are "rock stars" Pretty cool statement.

That's annoying.

Will be nice to get willy back.

Campbell looks like he'll be a good backup.

Eh? We're short Nylander and Rielly. We're running Kerfoot on the 2nd line wing and missing our #1 defender. We have too many people playing out of slot right now.

That was said out of frustration more with some specific players rather than the team as a whole.

Like...for example, it’d really be helpful if Dubas could find a way to swap Tyson Barrie for a defenseman who’s not an idiot.

We’ve also been getting virtually nothing from the $3M crew of forwards (Kappy, Johnsson & Kerfoot) for quite some time now, so I wouldn’t mind a shake-up there either.

On the bright side, we still got a point and Florida lost. And Campbell seems like a real goalie, so that’s a huge plus. I just wish we’d been able to acquire him a couple of months ago.

At this point playoffs may depend on other teams. If 100 points or more is the requirement they'll be in tough. They need to essentially continue to play at the Keefe pace (or better) that has been continually trending downwards since the very hot start. It's possible to do it but it won't be easy. But if they just need 97-98 points all of a sudden it's not a very daunting task. Andersen being out hurts their chances a lot though. Campbell seems to be alright but I'm not sure he isn't just a .900 goalie. Will be tough if that's the case.

But let's keep perspective.. even at worst they're probably a 105 point team under Keefe. And that's with largely horrific goaltending since he came on board and multiple injuries. A clear Stanley Cup contender for years to come. This season just happened to be one where almost everything went wrong including a Babcock-sabotaged start. Kinda reminds me of Tampa missing a few years ago after being battered with injuries.

Just saw the replay again in OT. What the hell was Barrie thinking there I have no idea

Campbell's poke check did him in and Matthews was all kinds of lost on the play as well. They were clearly tired. Suzuki got on the ice 9 seconds after Matthews for that shift and he utterly blew by Auston. It wasn't even close. Now Suzuki is fast but not that fast.

Also, Price intentionally kicked that save out past the Leafs to the open wing allowing Suzuki to break, it was a very heads-up play. I just wish Price could put it together for a whole year and not a half year at a time.
