Seems there’s a few good defensemen that could be available in July but I’m not convinced Tre will pick right.

would pass on pesce, there's real concern he tore his acl/mcl in game 2 vs islandersMontour and Pesce appear to be the two biggest needle movers available
It's time to target best ds available. We've wasted a lot of picks on crap.Montour and Pesce appear to be the two biggest needle movers available
Aside from the odd Pierre Lebrun Pesce hype, he' snot that good.would pass on pesce, there's real concern he tore his acl/mcl in game 2 vs islanders
he's pretty good, wouldn't sign him long term tho, some other team should bear that headacheAside from the odd Pierre Lebrun Pesce hype, he' snot that good.

No, not at all. What I'm saying is if those shots go in we have won all 3 games. Are you actually trying to say that Matthews is part of the problem? Did you not watch him out the entire team on his back in game 2 and will them to win? Dude was a beast. Keefe keeps trotting out the Benny hill brigade in prime situations yet mattys problem. Got it.
yup. Boston is super unimpressive but we seem determined to undermine ourselves. This team is obviously flawed. But every team is.
They can’t score in the playoffs for two reasons. First the PP falls apart every year, which has to fall on the coach. Second their D can’t move the puck, don’t jump into the rush and can’t create offense.
It’s a big problem when you have guys like Campbell and Sammy going head to head agains Vasilevskiey, Bobrovsky and Swayman. They will always be in tough until they get a real goalie.
But Keefe is the one of the biggest problem. He got his idea matchups last night and totally fucked the effectiveness of the lineup, except for getting Tavares more favourable matchups. He always overdoes it, and their home vs road record speaks for itself. He is one of the worst tactical coaches we’ve seen here.
The other biggest problem is Tre, who basically gave up on this season for day 1. At no point this season did they look like contenders and he didn’t do a fucking thing about it. He decided to piss maybe Matthews and Nylanders best years down the toilet for no reason that makes sense. Any halfway decent GM would have fired Keefe in November/December and added one of the handful of top 4 dmen that moved during the season. And frankly, this fall on Shanny for picking the guy and letting it happen.
All that said, Boston is super flawed too and we can easily beat them. They haven’t been impressive at all outside of their 5 elite players, who have been outplaying all of ours.

yah I've been impressed/annoyed by how much of a beast Lindholm is. good viking genes in him, it appears.I can’t believe Lindholm was available and Dubas went for Gio. Same as McCabe over Ekholm.
Lindholm is awesome. Reminds me of Kenny Jonsson. Plays an understated game, but is a monster that is so tough to beat one on one physically and he has enough skating and puck skills to make plays under pressure.
That’s one thing you notice about the Leafs D, they only have one guy that can make a play under pressure. And that may be the most important quality that all good dmen have.
eh don't think I'm keen on either of them. more interested in a Roy or Skjei type I thinkMontour and Pesce appear to be the two biggest needle movers available
It's definitely the worst team the Leafs have faced in the playoffs since the Habs. But it's also the worst Leafs roster so not a big surprise that it's been such a struggle.
The score sheet is the only metric that counts for an $11 million player. The stuff you're talking about, the hits, playing with heart, etc., those all fall into the "try hard" column. That's fine for a 4th liner but for the highest paid player in Christendom, trying isn't good enough. As Yoda famously said, "Do or do not. There is no try." Matthews isn't paid to try to succeed. He's paid to succeed. And when he doesn't succeed, by putting up points that make the difference between winning and losing, he has failed and the fact that he tried hard is irrelevant. An $11 million salary is a zero-sum proposition. It's completely binary. No gray area at all. The stat sheet is the final arbiter of whether he did his job or not. Last night, he didn't do his job, full stop.So watching Matthews game last night, aside from what the score sheet said, you came away with him not being good enough? He threw hits, he worked the puck. He played with heart. Marner? He’s been trash since he was off with injury. Out of all of the shit wrong with our team, Auston is not one of our deficits.
Fantastic forward group but the d are the worst, Keefe or no Keefe. Brodie declining and Muzzin's death has killed them. You can't lose two top pair d and not replace either of them. That's on the GMs.Doesnt have to be the worst but Keefe.
