GDT | Game 26 | VS Kings | Thursday, December 7 | 7PMEST

Sure he did , team was headed off the cliff in short order

Propped up the team to make a playoff push that was never sustainable held together with drugs and stiches with Price
propped up? how? we picked up no one other than Staal during the covid cuck year

You should never cry over the loss of players like Danault, Eller, Lehkonen, et al. They are not special in any way. The things they do best (backchecking, killing penalties, blocking shots, cycling the puck) are not skills which require elite level talent. Any NHL player can be trained and coached to perform those tasks competently.

What can't be taught or coached is how to score 40 goals or get 80 points in the NHL. For that, you need players with elite offensive talent. Talent is something you're born with or born without. You can't learn to be talented. The greatest coach in the universe can't train talent into you. The only way you become a great scorer is to be born with the capacity for greatness.

Anze Kopitar has talent. Danault has skill. Pay whatever it costs to acquire and retain players with talent. Teach the skills to the players without it. Kopitar is the guy you hire to paint the masterpiece and Danault is the guy you hire to frame it and hang it on the wall. One is an artist, the other a thoroughly replaceable tradesman.
Players like Lek and Dano are solid contributors only when slotted perfectly

Lek was a key player on the cup Colorado cup team

He scored big goals but he only functions behind stars leading the way

yet he has not been replaced and definitely not by Evans as you thought possible

that is a different argument but stilly me, would prefer better players on the roster and it is undeniable Danault is significantly better than 1 goal Evans
Thats like saying use a heavier umbrella during a cat5 storm

Dano is nice player and better than Evans , so what ?

Habs need the meat to the BBQ, team is loaded with condiments which is what he is

Habs need great core difference makers , not support players .

Nick fucken Suzuki cant be your best forward

In what world is Dano moving the needle on this roster
Having one of the best 2-way center in the league definitely moves the needle (depending on your definition of that term). Improve special teams, free Suzuki from facing the best lines, etc. He's always been a puck possession monster. Probably adds 4-5 points per season.

This.

Count says Danault is better than Evans. Yeah, and? Neither one of them are moving any needles for a team as putrid as the Habs so it the only thing that matters is how much of your cap do you want to blow on a completely superfluous player? We are finishing in the basement either way so we might as well save some money and go with the cheaper option.

Waste of time on this roster and he is 31 soon

Struble has blown past Harris & Xekaj on the depth chart - very good game thus far

Up next…. Lord Barron of shittsville

Slaf w another very good game

Here's the thing, we keep saying Slaf is having a good game because he's learning how to muck it up and battle. Great, but where are the skilled plays? I see nothing exceptional yet.

Isn't it frustrating that the Habs failed zone entry results in a turnover that becomes an easy zone entry for the Kings. Like does the team even know how to play hockey from the coaching staff down to the players?
