GDT - Round 2, Game 1 - Can Climate Change Hurry Up and Put Florida Under Water?

I mean I'm not jumping off buildings or anything. Just saying they need to be way better 5 on 5 than they were last night. Not too concerned.

i hear ya, but if I told you you could have that identical all situations xG chart for game two, you’d jump at the chance wouldn’t you?

that’s all I’m saying.

Would be great, but I wouldn't expect that PP advantage again. So they'll need to make up for it by being better at evens.

Though, the PP did look amazing and that was very encouraging.

And the other bit is, the score/venue adjusted xgf% at 5 on 5 after the 1st period when Keefe got his head out of his ass favored the Leafs. It was still pretty even and I'd hope for better but the narrative shifts if you remove that heinous 1st period.

True. But consistent under Keefe.

Cousins goal -- Marner half assing vs Tkachuk
Bennett -- unlucky Knies
Vergy -- Brodie gamble + ROR lazy backcheck
Montour -- Samsonov floating in space

my biggest worry is that we let Tkachuk be the best player in this game.

we beat the bruins because our best players were clearly better than theirs.

the best players are the ones that usually decided things in the playoffs. not always, but usually.

yeah I was disappointed with our top guys last night. particularly Mitch and Willy. they need to outplay the cats top guys and it wasn't really happening yesterday

Willy was all over the puck tho. Not sure he was actually bad.

I woke up thinking i'd like to see something like this:

Knies - Matthews - Jarnkrok
Bunting - Tavares - Marner
Acciari - O'Reilly - Nylander

and ROR looked pretty grim for much of the game I thought. although he did make a great play on the Bunting goal.

I think we're gonna need to drop Acciari to the 4th line and move Kerfoot back up to account for the cats' forwards speed/skill advantage over Tampa.

his decision making seemed poor.

Nylander had 1 shot late in the 2nd and that was it for the first 2 periods. He was bad.

And then in the 3rd he may have been their best player. 6 shots and all over the puck.
