I like the player and the risk, just don't like what we had to give up to acquire him.
Think for a minute. If you believe he's worth the 16th overall then what we paid is in line with that.I like the player and the risk, just don't like what we had to give up to acquire him.
That would be a massive mistake if that's what they actually think. The Canadiens’ focus has clearly shifted
Montreal traded a good amount of draft capital to make this deal happen, which also demonstrates a clear shift in how they view where they are in the team-building process. The cupboard of prospects like the ones they could have acquired with the 31st or 37th picks is relatively full, so using those picks to bring in Newhook is a good reflection that the Canadiens believe their window to compete will be opening relatively soon. Perhaps not as soon as next season, but sooner than a typical timeline for a team holding the No. 5 pick in the draft would be. — Basu
I don't, though. I could live with the 31 or 37th pick, but giving up both is excessive to me.Think for a minute. If you believe he's worth the 16th overall then what we paid is in line with that.
Doubt we were alone at that dance.Same. Either pick but not both.
It will have to end. I'm resolved to the fact that we will never have another non-goalie elite players ever again. That would be a massive mistake if that's what they actually think.
I'm of the belief that we don't have a single truly elite player (we have an elite goal scorer, but that's it) in the organization & the rebuild can't really stop until we get one.
Then don't do it.Doubt we were alone at that dance.
