I think you would agree Krust, that under US law it probably breaches anti-trust law in a general sense. The players in the league are fucked but if a 17 year old says, hey when I am 18 you cannot keep me from choosing where I go, how would a court decide? Of course, I am sure they have dotted enough i's and t's to get by a court.

On its face, probably yes, but if you agree to play in the NHL, a private business, you have probably waived your right to make an antitrust challenge.

Had returned for a few practices like two weeks ago in a non-contact jersey but hasn't been seen on the ice since.

The players union don't want that. They know that a small pool of free agents will cause salaries to rise higher and faster than a large pool. Creating scarcity is what drives salaries up.
