Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

Suzuki turns 24 on August 10th and PLD turns 25 on June 24

Even better!! I mean, a kid drafted in 2023 will be 6 years younger than Suzuki… which in some ways makes as much sense as signing a 29-30 year old.

Meanwhile PLD is 25. I mean, at this point Suzuki will be too old for the Suzuki-core window.

with the way some talk that we are 5 yrs away from making the playofs, there will be calls to dump 14 and 22 as they will be too old

It depends on what we need, and is available, in in the 2024 off-season. He’s not a needle mover. I would not commit to him yet, when there’s really no need to. In a year from now, maybe, if we need him and no better options then.
Exactly , he doesn’t move the needle and hasn’t in Winnipeg who have a better established core

Team spun their wheels for a decade under Nero ,lets see what team looks like before we start adding

If this was Makar , “ I want to go to Montreal “ I would give him 13 mil , he changes the team overnight

Franchise superstar , needle mover , game changer

PLD is what you get after you have some studs in your lineup and your in the win now category and puzzle is close to complete

So who plays while waiting for these game changers?

Team has plenty of kids to audition , plus Slaf and others will be healthy

One more season to see what progress has been made , especially on D
So we can read you bitch about the drafting and how they need elite talent for another decade?

You and I have very different opinions on the business of hockey.

I dont know WTF this debate is about

Team is in year 2 of a complete tear down and shit mess left behind by Nero

I have nothing to bitch about the draft , I luv our first 3 picks and Angstrom looks promising

Saw our OHL players play this year and they looked good with Logan a potential stud on our top 4

Some of you want to start pushing the win button way too early , if it was the case Hugo would of started kicking the
fucken can down the road unloading picks for vet fillers .......and they have done nothing but rebuild properly

Business aspect only improves when the team is a contender , plus this consortium is into condos and other ventures

PLD or retaining the must have Price and 3 fingers Gally doesnt add a nickel to this team .

As mentioned PLD is not an ELITE TALENT and never will be the needle mover

A piece of the puzzle when the main pieces are on board ......and they are not here yet

Nobody on here has said that PLD is an elite talent, however he is a very good player which will help..Most of us on here would not give up much to get him, giving up Florida 1st pick is debatable but I would still do it.. signing PLD is not kicking the can down the road....Like GW asked you, what's the downside ?

That's apparent

My point is this. You want to play the kids and save cap for what?

Good luck sucking while being greatly under the cap in Montreal.

You don't want to spend Suzuki money on a guy that may only hit a ppg once or twice in his prime. I get all that.

Dubois is much much more than that though. He is

Very good French player and let's be honest, that does matter for marketing etc.

Solid two way center that is just as comfortable on the wing.

Durable

Do I think he's a top line center? No. Do I think he's worth 7-8m in today's NHL? Absolutely.

Line one: Caufield-top center-winger(one of our prospects will emerge)

Line two: Dubois-Dach-Slafkovsky

Line three: Winger Suzuki-winger

Line Four: leftovers that can skate and check.

Where the unnamed wingers are not named Hoffman, Gallagher, Drouin, Armia, Dvorak etc

Anderson is a maybe. Such an enigma.

Future possible wingers in the system:

Roy
Kidney
Farrell
Mesar
Mysak

Those are our top winger forward prospects and I don't see one better than Dubois.

We look better on D than up front prospect wise.
