Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

I don’t think so. We got lucky with that one. More like 3 others Toffoli deals.
3 home runs minimum

Price ... lands you the moon prior to his extension....no guts to move him

PK....wrong trade cause NERO went all in instead of purging

As soon as that direction was taken there no other option than Weber who was a plug and play star for 3 years

Norris winner , cost certainty and the right age , home run deal with vets , picks , and prospects

Gally.... after 30 goal season and under a team friendly deal , teams would line up for his services based on reputation

Petry ... missed opportunity

Not even going to mention Pleks ,Markov, Souray , etc ....

Relitigating the past… almost pointless now. There are a few bad contracts to purge now, but then what? There is cap space and a stockpile of draft picks to leverage. More “young veterans” or reclamation projects?

Once we can figure out a way to get rid of Gallagher & Anderson, the two remaining anchors on this team, the next step is very simple as long as it works timing-wise: The next time a Jack Eichel or Alex Pietrangelo becomes available, you make sure you're the one that gets him.

We'll have prospects, we'll have picks, give up whatever combination of those to get that established, elite player.

Every now & again, one of those elite players becomes available in the middle of their prime.

Anderson is still movable, IMO. They gotta do it this year, so hopefully he gets off to a hot start.

Gallagher’s contract can be dealt with once Petry, Edmunson and Alzner are off the books. Unless we’re willing to give up draft picks or other assets, it’s hard to see how Gallagher is moved.

In the meantime… with a couple more 6-8 picks, make smart selections. Reinbacher is a pretty good selection. Let’s get a few more to deepen the line up.

The story here is that Norlinder is still sticking around. I didn't think he would.
Norlinder’s made the team unless he falls flat on his face the next few days IMO - with Hutson @ NCAA, there are no other PP QB options for HuGo/MSL within the org at present, Mailloux needs grooming time.

He needs a solid year of learning how to be a defenceman. He is NHL ready with the offence. Team also need to prioritize getting a reliable mop up partner. GGpX might well be right that it should be Guhle.
I think there's two pairings that seem to be headed for a collision course, maybe even as early as next season, but I might be a hair too optimistic:

Guhle-Mailloux
Hutson-Reinbacher

No and no to picking up more vets for for our draft and prospect capital

Need more Dach deals or players to fit our timeline

11 needs major cap retention to move

Gallagher's either going to head to Robidas Island, or getting bought out after the 2024-2025 season when the cap penalties aren't too steep.

I'd be shocked if he gets moved. I just don't think you can move him, even if you wanted to.

Pietro was 31 when he went to Vegas , too old unless team is on the cusp of a cup

Good luck attracting them to Montreal
