and before anyone gets choked, we all nailed drunk chicks back in the day, we didn't ask if could kiss, cup etc. We went for it and kept going until she said no. That is no absolving in any particular case, it just is what it is.

Today the woman is supposed to be completely sober, you ask to hold her hand, ask if can kiss etc. It is a differeny world

If approved, the change would be implement starting August 1st 2025.
And it's begun.

While the vote isn't official, everything is indicating that the proposal will be accepted.

A player from the USHL, Hayden Reid, went undrafted in last year's NHL draft and is committed to the University of Minnesota in the 2025-2026 season. He's since left the USHL to play in the OHL, and probably with the hope to head to the NCAA after.

Dreger had a hit on TSN's web page and mentioned that the CHL - NCAA change is going to pass, with some details to be ironed out.

What seems to be certain is that players who have gone the CHL route and then played U Sports (Ie, Canadian University) will have limited NCAA eligibility. Every year a player played in U Sports, he'll be docked one year of eligibility in the NCAA. So if a player went for two years in Canadian universities, he'll only be eligible for two seasons in the NCAA.

And with CBA discussions starting soon-ish, one of the talking points will be about keeping the rights of drafted players from the NCAA.

Obviously an existential issue for Tier 2 junior, but perhaps also for bottom 6 type players in D1? All of a sudden there will be a much bigger pool of (Canadian) talent gunning for limited scholarships.

Also, for the next CBA, will this end the AHL prohibition of 19 year olds from CHL?
I don't think so, unfortunately.

The CHL is dependant on having those players in their lineups because it's already incredibly hard to make real profit.

I would love it if it were possible, though. There are players every year who are ready to move on from the Junior level, but not good enough to be in the NHL.

In the next CBA, if I had my way:
-Allow 19 year olds from the CHL to play in the AHL (compensate the CHL teams as needed)
-Allow players who are drafted from the USHL/BCHL/Junior A leagues to participate in NHL development & training camps without it affecting their college eligibility
-Allow teams to extend their rights on players drafted in the CHL from two years to four to six years if those players go the NCAA route, depending on when they choose to go to college. Players we've drafted like Quentin Miller and Tyler Thorpe need numerous years in the NCAA to play and develop, but as it currently stands, we only have their rights for a limited amount of time.
