That’s a great quality for a GM, isn’t it, and I think Mete sucks, BTW, but still . . .he seemed to really hate Mete since the trade demand haha
took it personal

My point was that MB needs thicker skin if he took Mete’s agent’s public demand personally.A 7th D should just shut up to the media and tell the GM to trade me privately
I don't think MB took it personally....Habs have always been a secretive organization and cares too much about its image, and every time someone doesn't fall in line, they get sent somewhere else.
Happened to Subban......and many more examples before...Chelios, Corson, Roy, etc
He was arrested for publicly urinating at the University of Wisconsin campus at 2 a.m. while very intoxicated. That was the last straw for Ron Corey. He then ordered Savard to trade him, which Serge did.I don't remember what happened in the Chelios fiasco ?

Seemed a bit excessive no....Corey's reaction....
i do not think Mete said anythingA 7th D should just shut up to the media and tell the GM to trade me privately
i do not think Mete said anything
that is why players have agents
i always find it weird that people think employees should never stand up to the boss
bingoI have no issue if a player thinks he's in a bad situation and wants to leave. The agent talks to the GM and hopefully, something can get worked out.
What annoys me is when it becomes public (because it's the agent who makes it public, never the GM) in hopes of putting pressure on the GM. But I don't blame the player, unless he's like PLD and just quits on his team.
the issue isHedman standing up is one thing , Gemel Smith demanding a trade is another
No one knows what happened or who leaked any info but a depth player slug should never be a media fuss
Not Hayward...Corson, Kordic, Chelios, Svoboda stuck in a motel room with a pair of 14-year old girls for 3-days.He was arrested for publicly urinating at the University of Wisconsin campus at 2 a.m. while very intoxicated. That was the last straw for Ron Corey. He then ordered Savard to trade him, which Serge did.
Before that was the alleged “incident” with the underage girls after a playoff game against tne Nords, but that also involved Corson, Heyward, et al. The good old days . . .
the issue is
Mete has a ton more to lose (than hedman, price, weber, whoever)
this is basically millions of dollars and his career on the line
and you are right - we dont know what actually happen
could be that mete has been asking privately for years to be traded and MB said no for years so the agent leaked it publicly
the keep quiet or i ruin your career stuff is bad from smaller things to mete potentially losing out on money/career to extreme things like graham james

BTW - Savard said on Melnick’s show a couple of months back, there was zero interference from Corey, despite all the rumors, that Chelios was strictly traded because Habs doctors told the alchi Chelios’ knees were done and he wouldn't be able to play more than a couple of years....
You don’t have daughters do you?yeah...those rich bastards could have sprung for a nice hotel suite.
You don’t have daughters do you?
Funny though.
The girls lied about their ages and apparently looked much older . . . which is “apparently” why the players were not charged. Or, it was 1987, and players on the Habs were “protected” back in the good old days. I’ll go with the latter theory. Also, Corson and Svoboda were only 20 or 21 at the time. Chelly was about 24 or 25 and should have known better but he’s an all-time pig. A true legend of pigdom.disgusting
