That's fairly obvious. There's a good chance that at the start of the 2025-2026 season, the only defenseman from this current team that is on that roster is Kaiden Guhle and maybe Arber Xhekaj. Everyone else is probably gone.

I hope the internal evaluation finds the right D to trade and times it to get max value.

This is a good point. But we need some vets to help bring the kids along too. Would need to get someone this summer.

But the truth of the matter is, this organization has an excess of LHD (with Hutson on his way here and Engstrom coming over next season) and Matheson's on the left. With Matheson Guhle, you only have one spot available for Xhekaj/Hutson/Engstrom. I think Xhekaj on the third pair is fine, but you need to make some room for Hutson.

When this team is good & ready to compete, and I don't think that's for a while btw, Matheson's not going to be here anymore.

His value's never going to be higher than it is now, and with his very affordable caphit, I would think a lot of teams might be interested in acquiring him.
