The leafs are using Bodie, Abbott and Devane....they'd be insane to not investigate forward help
Bodie's been great in his role

... Look around the league. Most teams have way more guys like that and in bigger roles. Not to mention, it's only because we've had two top 9 forwards suspended or injured. Like I said, we get Clarkson back in 6 games.
Bob McKenzie tells TSN Drive that the Leafs are looking at trading a defenseman for forward help.
I don't get it. Our forwards are fine. We get Clarkson back in 6 games and Kulemin back soon enough.
Think AHL deals.
Think AHL deals.
We've got 10 AHL defensemen. And they're mostly really good AHL dmen borderline NHL dmen.
Guys like Holzer for depth forwards?
Kind of misleading with all the buzz about Gardiner going around if that's what he means...
some GM called Nonis about Gardiner. Nonis said no. That's all that happened.
But we know that Nonis of course wants to trade Liles, and that prospects like Holzer and Blacker are getting pushed out by a new wave of kids......and that they're carrying 10 defensemen on the marlies for no apparent reason.
Holzer can play a bottom pair role somewhere and he's reasonably priced. That's not going to bring "forward help" for our lineup at the NHL level, though.
If Holzer can play a bottom pair role somewhere, then he should be able to bring a forward who can play a bottom line role, no?
It's not like we're looking for a top-9 forward. They're not shunting Raymond or Kulemin to the 4th line.
Absolutely.I think Bobo was just being sly.
If he meant they were looking to trade Gardiner, then since the rumor is already out he would have said it was jake. Think he's just piggybacking on the jake rumour to generate noise.
Nope. After just playing two of the first ten games Carlyle coached, he finished the season by dressing Franson for seven of our final eight games. Considering he'd spent the whole year in Wilson's doghouse, he got out of Carlyle's relatively quickly. And of course, from the moment we re-signed him last year, Carlyle made him a regular in his starting six.Carlyle took over three seasons ago and got a good 20 games or so after Wilson was fired.
Pretty sure Franson was in the doghouse with him for the rest of that season, plus some of last year till he finally emerged.
"Give" being the operative word, of course.Colborne - issue isn't whether he'll be good or not, I just wanted us to give him that shot, that's all.
