Leafs acquire Frederik Anderson from Ducks

I'm not convinced that MAF gets moved. Murray showed well late in the season and in the playoffs but what if he returns next year and comes back down to earth? Even though he has a good track record, he wouldn't be the first goalie to have a good run and settle back into a lower performance curve. I think they roll with him, at least early on, until they see what they really have in Murray before moving him. And even then, who knows what the price will be.

And the Hawks are not going to move Crawford. They may be cash-strapped, but they dealt TT to help address that and the guy has been an integral part of their core/success for many years. And they have shown to be loyal to their core over the years, instead choosing to deal secondary players to make the cap work.

And Tampa may choose to keep Bishop over Vasilevski.

High Danger Save Percentage.....usually viewed as one of the better stats for separating the quality of goalies as it filters out the noise of one goalie seeing a ton of low danger shots versus someone who plays for a lesser defense and sees mainly medium & high danger shots.

I bet San Jose is regretting getting Martin Jones..

It's hard to wait until guys are proven to the point where they are no-brainers. And when they do get to this point, the team that owns them would likely rather keep them or would be asking for the moon in return.

Hawks are still cap ****ed after the TT deal, and Bickell and Shaw could both go, 1 for sure.
 
This is fine. Reimer is meh. Yeah he's a super nice guy and all but he's going ot get injured a ton. Bernier is a midget and should be jettisoned or kept to a minimum of starts. We're eating RFA years here, so if Andersen performs at a high level we'll save a bit of money. The fact this is being panned by fans in Ottawa and Montreal simply shows the fear factor is growing as the team evolves.

They didn't have to sign him for 5 years and $5.5 mill though.

TO trade for him is one thing, but to give him that 5 yrs deal when he really hasn't proved he's an above-average starter is a little crazy. There's nothing to suggest Andersen is the next Jones. I'd rather pay him what he's worth when he proves he is a premiere goalie in this league.
 
I feel like it would be one thing if he cost alot in a trade, or cost alot of a big contract.

This dude was both.

Huge gamble, and being really wrong here can set you back a long time.

Goalies are almost always available if you look.

And this is prior to an expansion draft and low cap creating a nightmare for some teams.

This is a really big and unnecessary gamble. They can't afford to be wrong.

THere was also nothing wrong with rolling with Bernier and an Enroth next year if the right value wasn't out there.

What was Martin Jones' track record compared to Anderson before being acquired?

I trust Lou in being able to find a goalie, as that is something he has consistently done since being a GM. And this guy has a great track record. If anything, he proved a lot more than Jones did before becoming established.
